ERGONOMICS CONSULTANT
Simon Taylor is an Ergonomics Consultant with a PhD in Biomechanics and Motor Control. His doctoral research focused on the impact of aging on the control of foot clearance during gait. With over 15 years of experience as a senior lecturer and academic researcher, Simon has explored the effects of footwear and landing techniques on adaptable control of limb biomechanics.
He is the co-author of a U.S. Patent that is designed to provide live biofeedback on stepping parameters, aiding in the training and assessment of gait adaptability. Simon has published over 50 research articles in peer-reviewed journals, covering topics such as gait, sports biomechanics (e.g., AFL kicking and cricket fast bowling), the validation of biomechanical instruments, and manual handling tasks within the Australian Defence Force.
As an experienced educator, Simon has supervised postgraduate research students and taught various undergraduate biomechanics courses.

- The effect of insole and outsole properties of football boot design on agile performance.
- Testing of football boot sole stiffness and traction.
- The control of leg stiffness between different habitual running techniques.
- Quantifying passive and active control of gait parameters.
- The effect of biofeedback training on developing adaptable gait.
- Validation of biomechanics equipment: force instrumented treadmill, inertial sensors and muscle sensors.
- Investigation of Ian Campbell triple jump distance at Moscow 1980 Olympic Games.
- How cricket fast bowlers control body posture for pitch length accuracy.
- Leg biomechanics of punt kicking in AFL and Rugby.
- Awarded industry and institutional research project funding of $400,000
Simon is an experienced investigator and provides expert opinion on matters relating to human performance and human error including vehicle accidents, sports and recreational injuries, workplace tasks and healthcare. Simon also provides expert advice on the design and delivery of training across a broad range of occupational, educational, healthcare, sporting, and recreational tasks.
