Ergonomics Consultant

Elise Meier is an Ergonomist with a strong foundation in Occupational Therapy, bringing a wealth of expertise to workplace health and safety and injury prevention.

Elise’s career began as an Occupational Therapist, where she made a real difference in the lives of inpatients in acute and rehabilitation hospital wards, as well as outpatients transitioning back into the community. Her passion for helping people led her to work across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and even the UK, gaining diverse experience in various healthcare settings.

She then expanded her expertise into Occupational Rehabilitation, assisting clients in safely and sustainably returning to work within the Comcare and Victorian WorkCover sectors. With a deep understanding of injury prevention and workplace safety, Elise took her skills further—becoming an Ergonomist to help organisations create safer, healthier work environments. Elise completed her Masters in Ergonomics with her Thesis on The health effects on office workers in activity-based work environments: a scoping review, further deepening her expertise in workplace design and its impact on employee well-being.

At Melbourne University, Elise provided ergonomic solutions across multiple campuses, working in audiology clinics, cryogenic storage at the Peter Mac Cancer Centre, scientific laboratories, childcare centres, veterinary clinics, warehousing, and library services. She thrived in these diverse environments, ensuring staff had the right tools, setup, and strategies to prevent musculoskeletal disorders and psychological injuries at work.

Elise’s expertise, hands-on approach, and dedication to improving workplace safety make her an invaluable asset to any team.

Some of examples of Elise’s work include:

  • Providing specialist ergonomic expertise to redesign work, according to worker’s capabilities, and develop effective and robust safety solutions.
